Brenda Greene Mitchell

Brenda is a small town native Texan who grew up in central Texas dance halls, which became an integral part of her social upbringing. She was an executive producer on the indie hit Somebody Up There Likes Me, which premiered at SXSW in 2012 and Icebraker, currently in post-production. Her deep desire to preserve the story of the legendary Broken Spoke dance hall inspired her to document it through film. Honky Tonk Heaven is her directorial debut. Sam is a director and editor working in Austin, Texas. Editor and co-producer credits include: No No: A Dockumentary (Showtime/ESPN/Sundance 2014/SXSW 2014), Ladonna Harris: Indian 101 (PBS), and Along Came Kinky: Texas Jewboy For Govenor (SXSW 2009). Director credits include: Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee And The Spirit Of The Rural Studio (PBS, SXSW 2010) and music documentary The Holy Modal Rounders…Bound To Lose. Currently, Sam is in post-production on an upcoming PBS documentary, Moving Mountains: Land Art in the New West.
